Equipment Sales Representative

Summary

The equipment sales representative is responsible for selling firefighting equipment, achieving sales goals, and building customer relationships in the assigned territory.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify prospects and follow-up on sales leads
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships
  • Meet with all customers in person on a quarterly basis
  • Communicate product benefits and specifications to customers
  • Identify and resolve customer concerns
  • Prepare sales presentations, proposals, bids, and contracts
  • Respond to communications (phone calls and emails) from customers, teammates, and vendors within one business day
  • Service the customer during and after each sale to ensure the customer is satisfied
  • Prepare reports requested by management
  • Be knowledgeable on product offering, competitive products, and competitive pricing
  • Provide all required order information to inside sales representative so orders can be placed accurately and quickly
  • Achieve personal, team, and organizational goals while working as part of a team
  • Attend trade shows and customer events to maintain customer and vendor relationships
  • Size customers for PPE accurately and in a timely manner
  • Attend mandatory product training and sales events; representative will be given two weeks’ notice and is expected to plan his/her schedule accordingly
  • Maintain car stock and demo equipment as directed by company policy
  • Maintain an inventory of sales materials 
  • Facilitate product training for customers; sales representative must train customers himself/herself or arrange for a vendor to provide training
  • Work closely Accounting Team to follow-up with customers on past due accounts
  • Maintain neat and professional personal appearance at all times

  • Demonstrate the ability to set and reach performance goals set forth by management.
  • Operate computers and be proficient with Microsoft Outlook Email, Microsoft Word & Excel programs as well with any company provided software
  • Be self-motivated and work from a remote location
  • Prioritize tasks while working quickly and efficiently
  • Possess strong detail-oriented, problem solving, and analytical abilities
  • Work independently and work in a team environment
  • Travel frequently and have a flexible schedule
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with employees and customers
  • Possess a valid drivers’ license and maintain a good driving record
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • 3 to 5 years of sales or marketing experience
  • Knowledge of firefighting equipment is preferred
  • Background in the firefighting industry is preferred
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk over 60% of work time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
