Foreman

Description

SUMMARY: The Shop Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the service center.  The Shop Foreman must be able to work with all departments within Ten-8 and OEM manufacturers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Oversee the upkeep of the grounds and facilities.
  • Continuously inspect building and grounds for safety, aesthetic needs, and correct accordingly or recommend long-term solutions.
  • Conduct routine building inspections and perform basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting).
  • Repair and treat structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets. Perform minor troubleshooting, repairs and adjustments on doors, cabinets, desks, closets, etc.
  • Ensure all repairs are compliant with local building codes, permitting and regulations.
  • Maintain and operate groundskeeping tools and equipment in safe working condition.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and complete assigned work orders promptly.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
  • Proficient verbal communication skills, in English, are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Service Center Manager and COO to accomplish the mission and vision of Ten-8 Industrial.

  • Ensure safe, efficient, and effective use of staff, service center, and equipment.
  • Determine priorities and allocate work to the appropriate department staff.
  • Perform courtesy inspections on all vehicles when they arrive at the service center.
  • Provide repair times to the Service Manager the same day as the quote is prepared.
  • Monitor work progress and facilitate, as necessary, to meet promised scheduled times.
  • Advise the Service Writer on best methods of repair and determine repair times in consultation with the Service Manager and OEM information.
  • Ensure service and repair targets are met to ensure all work is carried out within a realistic time frame, and if required, within quoted time frames.
  • Inform the Service Manager on revisions to service tickets or schedule changes.
  • Work efficiently with the Parts Associate and/or Service Manager on issues affecting availability of parts. Take responsibility for parts ordering/receipt into the service center.
  • Utilize the SAP Business One systems to perform the following tasks:
    • Create and update worksheets.
    • Allocation of work to individual members of staff, enter start and time completed on all jobs.
    • Order additional parts and equipment against service tickets; receipt of parts and equipment into the service area; transfer of parts and equipment; record labor to jobs.
  • Submit final ticket and relevant information to the Service Writer
  • Support industrial sales department to ensure the efficient, expedited delivery of new vehicles.Maintain and furnish necessary special tools and diagnostic software for technicians to perform their jobs safely, efficiently, and correctly.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • 3-5 years in the automotive or truck repair business.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • CDL preferred.
  • ASE / EVT certifications preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics and algebra.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variances in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept directions on given assignments.

  • Prior service center management required.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • We must have the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work quickly and efficiently.
  • Parts experience a plus but not required.
  • Some mechanical experience required.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs independently.
  • Must be able to work in various physical environments, including exposure to loud noise, vibrations, chemicals, fumes, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Regular use of hands to operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
