CDL Driver – Part Time/On Call
Description
We are seeking an experienced part-time on call CDL Driver that thrives in providing quality customer service.
SUMMARY: The part-time on call CDL Driver performs both local and state-wide driving for the pickup and delivery of Fire Trucks and Ambulance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Safely pickup and deliver emergency response vehicles (fire trucks and ambulance) both locally and statewide.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Must be at least 21 years old or older.
- Valid CDL driver’s license.
- At least 6 months of driving experience.
- Emergency Response experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to meet DOT regulations and guidelines pertaining to the physical qualifications for commercial drivers.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass random DOT alcohol and drug tests.
- Must be within an hour’s driving distance from both a service center and an airport.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to create standard correspondence. Ability to effectively and concisely present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees. Ability to work from oral and written instructions. Proficient verbal communication skills, in English, are required.
EDUCATION:
- A high school diploma or GED
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variances in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
LIGHT WORK: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and balancing.
WORK POSITION: Sitting 80%, standing 10% and walking 10%
WORK CONDITIONS: Spends approximately 75% of the time outdoors.
