Inside Equipment Sales Representative

Ten-8 Fire and Safety is seeking a talented and competitive Inside Sales Representative that thrives in a quick sales cycle environment. An inside sales rep will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives. You must be comfortable making dozens of calls per day, working with channel partners, generating interest, qualifying prospects, and closing sales.  

SUMMARY:  The Inside Sales Representative in the Equipment Division is responsible for providing quotes, orders and service to customers.  This position requires high accuracy and attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Identify customer needs; sell products that maximize Ten-8’s product offerings.
  • Partner with outside sales personnel to manage customer relationships directly with product specifications and selection.
  • Promptly respond to telephone, fax and e-mail inquiries from customers and outside sales personnel.
  • Work with customers who come to Ten-8 in person. This may include assisting them with bunker gear sizing and selection.
  • Generate sales quotes, sales orders, and purchase orders in SAP business system with accurate pricing and materials.
  • Prepare and submit Bid and RFP packages as required.
  • Establish and negotiate pricing and product availability with vendors.
  • Determine appropriate delivery method based on customer needs, cost effective delivery, and product margin.
  • Research and locate non-stock products to fulfill customer needs while negotiating price and delivery.
  • Establish and maintain relationships, both in person and via telephone, with vendors to establish special pricing and delivery.
  • Assist in the development of and participate in special vendor sales incentive programs to increase and develop Ten-8 sales.
  • Attend one or two trade shows annually and interact with customers and vendors.
  • Travel in the field with outside sales reps quarterly.

  • Knowledge of firefighting equipment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
  • Preferred candidates will have 1-year sales and customer service experience with a background in the firefighting industry.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position has no supervisory responsibility.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or equivalent, College Degree preferred

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics, algebra, and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variances in standardized situations. Strong problem-solving skills required.

  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability required.

  • Background in the firefighting industry preferred.
  • Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work from a remote location without direct supervision.
  • Work requires significant local travel to current and potential customers. This requires the possession of a valid drivers’ license.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and occasional overnight travel.
