Parts Associate
SUMMARY: The Parts Associate will provide support for the Service department. This individual must be highly motivated to accomplish their objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, and pricing and service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Ensure total customer satisfaction to ensure a standard of customer service that exceeds customer and management expectations.
- Handle incoming phone calls for retail parts sales.
- Formulate and process sales orders for parts
- Purchase parts from vendors through the Purchase Order system and ship to retail customers.
- Follow up on phone calls, part orders, returns, and shipments.
- Identify parts on trucks (specifically fire trucks.)
- Assist customers in selecting the correct part(s) when the part number is not known.
- Work closely with vendors to solve parts problems encountered by customers.
- Attend and give input to parts meetings.
- Assist in collection of receivables.
- Back up parts counter person.
- Provide assistance with annual inventory.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior truck parts and service writing experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail.
- Computer literate.
- Good listener with excellent phone skills.
- Creative problem solver.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to create standard correspondence. Ability to effectively and concisely present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees. Ability to work from oral and written instructions. Proficient verbal communication skills, in English, are required.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variances in standardized situations.

HEAVY WORK: Lifting 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
